About MahaBamboo Design Competition 2019 (M.B.D.C. 2019)
MahaBamboo Design Competition 2019 (M.B.D.C. 2019)is the first of the many events for the MahaBamboo forum which is initiated by Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board (M.B.D.B.) , supported by Bamboo Research and Training Center (B.R.T.C.) , and is structured and organised by Collaborative Organisation to Rejuvenate Events (C.O.R.E.) . This is a National Level Design Competition which aims to bring about a general affinity, understanding towards Bamboo as a material in design fraternities like Architects, Product and Furniture Designersetc.and in general all the people relateto and like to explore with Bamboo as a material.
Aim
TheMahaBamboo Design Competition aims to turn the spotlight on the intrinsic characteristics of bamboo, a plant that has a thousand virtues, thus favouring its use in any design fields andcreating better understanding of Bamboo as a materialin the minds of young designers.
The Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board (M.B.D.B.) : a division of Forest Ministry of Government of Maharashtra,aims in executing the winning ideas into reality, so there’s a chance to get your ideas on paper to actually be translated into a tangible thing!
This competition will run in two phases from October 2019 to January 2020. The first phase will be submission and evaluation for selecting entries and the last phase will be the finale where the selected students will be presenting their work to the juryafter which the winners will be selected, thus creating a fair and non-bias platform for a design competition.
Objective:
The main objective of this MahaBamboo Design Competition 2019 (M.B.D.C. 2019) is to crush the taboos revolving around bamboo and to explore the material in every way possible.
In order to achieve this goal, M.B.D.B. and C.O.R.E. is making an attempt by taking the first step by conducting a competition with an interesting theme, mentioned below.
Rejuvenating City Parks: Bamboo Theme Park, in Kasba Peth, Pune

The site for this Design Competition is a Park in Kasba Peth, Pune, wherein the participants are required to come up with innovative, aesthetic, sustainable and functional solutions to revitalize and rejuvenate the park using their design inserts.
